It has been a while since I have rambled about some makeup bits I love. So of course, I just had to change that by using the excuse of the new year. Without further ado, here are some of my makeup faves from 2016:
Charlotte Tilbury Bette Eyeshadow
I knew it wouldn't take long for me to succumb to the temptation of purchasing this cream eyeshadow when I saw how gorge it looks on Tanya Burr. Now I hardly want to wear another eyeshadow. This bronze/gold shimmer is just perfect for day or night. It is just too pretty. I love to apply it all over my lid then apply Benefit Hoola Bronzer through the crease.
I love and wear winged eyeliner so much that I genuinely think it's just become part of who I am. It also means I have tried crazy amounts of liquid liners to find the ideal one, and in 2016 I think I finally found it! This L'Oreal liner consistently comes out pure black - none of that going all grey business after about two uses - lasts ages, and the liners tip is awesome for a precise cat flick.
Once my fave mascara (Too Faced Better Than Sex) dried up and was totally unusable, I made my way to Boots and purchased this mascara, not expecting it to compare at all to my fave. However, I was so pleased to find this mascara is actually amazing, particularly for the kind of lashes I'm always after: long, voluminous and super black. Definitely try it out!
I've pretty much worn this blush every time I applied makeup in 2016, and have continued to this year for that matter. It has no shimmer and is a subtle, dulled down pink, so basically it suits any look you have going on.
I was so excited to finally purchase this highlighter when I visited Sephora during my summer holiday to Florida. And I must say, believe the hype with this one. It is the best highlighter possibly ever thanks to its peachy-champagney-shimmery goodness. If you buy it though, I must warn you: a tiny bit goes a long way with this highlighter. However, although it's easy to go overboard with this highlighter, it's technically a good thing when considering the fairly expensive price tag that makes you really want it to last ages. But the pricey aspect also means that the day I accidentally scraped my nail through the powder, was not a good one... *insert the broken heart emoji right about now*
This bronzer is fairly famous in the beauty community, but for good reason. It's simply the perfect colour to warm up your face to allow you to achieve a bit of a sun-kissed vibe - even though it is January and the sun is practically nowhere to be found for us in the UK. But nevertheless, this bronzer is one both me and my sister adore, which really says something as I am more fair and she is quite tanned, so that just shows it works on a variation of skin tones too!
Honestly, I don't know why I stray from this baby when it comes to foundation. This one is just faultless to me. It is so easy to apply, gives just the right amount of coverage and leaves a subtle glow to your face - hence the 'sheer glow'. This foundation is also pretty long-lasting - always important. I see myself continuing to re-purchase this bad boy over and over. And just in case you're curious, I use the foundation in shade Mont Blanc.
I was lucky enough to get this powder for my 18th birthday as it was way, way, too pricey for me to ever justify buying myself. But it is oh so lovely. Powders are super important for me as I have a tendency to get an oily face throughout the day - never a good look - and I hate those powders that steal any glow the makeup you just applied gave. But this Hourglass one powders your face whilst giving you a beautiful glow. It looks scarily sparkly in the packaging, which did make me indecisive about buying it at first (I literally walked back and forth from Space NK to repeatedly swatch it and ponder if it will look strange or not). But I am here to say, trust me, when it goes on your face it will subtly illuminates your skin in the best way. Not a necessity for your makeup collection, but it's awesome. Btw, I have the shade Luminous Light!
I would describe this lipstick as a peachy-brown with a hint of pink. I really love how this lipstick looks mainly because it makes a change to the usual nude or red I will go for. It is also matte which makes me love it even more as this means it's fairly long-lasting. A couple of people have even complimented me when wearing this lipstick, asked what it was, said they have the same one and then explained it looks different on me. Kinda weird, but my point is: I am not lying when I say it looks prettaaaayyyy.
I could literally talk about makeup for ages, it's bad, but I will cut this blog post off here. Now make me happy by going and treating yourself to something from the above, I mean who wouldn't want to begin 2017 feeling and looking lovely? Makeup is great for that!
Love, Millie
